The Blind Side depicts the remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher’s presence in the Touhys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. The Blind Side is a fantastic drama which tells a fantastic story about Michael Oher and how his life has turned for the better because of one woman and her family. Some of the scenes in the film were very touching and moving such as how Michael is welcomed into the family. However, there were one or two moments in The Blind Side that looked like it belonged to a Disney movie such as Michael training with SJ but it’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The acting is something I could not fault whatsoever as the actors were phenomenal and they portrayed their characters very well. However, the actress who really stood out in the movie is Sandra Bullock who plays Leigh Anne Tuohy, her performance in this movie is probably the best I have seen from her in a while. Also, Quinton Aaron who plays underdog Michael Oher was fantastic. The direction is spot on and had really shown the two sides to Michael’s life very well, his gritty depressing past, his happy present and his bright future and had shown them in such a way to make the audience feel for the characters in the movie.
The Blind Side deserves all the accolades, the awards and the positive attention it gets and Sandra Bullock deserved the Oscar for Best Leading Actress. I also love a good story that carries out a very strong message and The Blind Side is one of them movies. It shows a powerful message about honour and loyalty and gallantry. If you want to see a movie with a fantastic story, this is the one for you. The Blind Side is a fantastic heart-warming drama that you’re not likely to forget anytime soon. This is one not to miss!
