Liam Neeson has starred in quite a few movies such as The Chronicles of Narnia, Clash of the Titans and The A-Team but before this, there was Taken. A former spy relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter, who has been forced into the slave trade. The movie has a few plot holes and some doubt in it’s story but the beauty of Taken is it knows it’s faults yet it still remains to be something everyone can relate to. The story is good and there is some realism to it but some of the action scenes were quite unrealistic but it’s in a way that you didn’t care because it was so fast-paced and enjoyable. There is some decent character development even though the only main character you will see throughout the movie is the hero of the hour and his character is exactly the same from start to finish. It’s a good thing that he is because through his character, every parent can connect and relate to how worrying it is to be a parent and how a parent would go through anything to save their kids.
The script is good and there were a few moments when Liam Neeson delivered his lines fantastically and really made quite a chilling impact on the audience when threatening a kidnapper down the telephone. Taken has some great acting and the performance from Liam Neeson was just brilliant to watch as we see him become what is surely one of the best action heroes to grace our screens. Some of the action scenes in the movie were executed brilliantly and choreographed very well. Overall, Taken is one of those under-rated action movies and is something I would recommend any action movie fan to see.
Taken has such a variety and a nice blend of great action movies such as James Bond, The Bourne Trilogy and the Mission: Impossibles and it truly deserves to be amongst the ranks of greatest action movies. I haven’t seen a brilliant action movie that’s both entertaining, serious and frighteningly realistic with some great over-the-top action scenes for quite a while and Taken definitely ticks all of those boxes. A must-see for sure!
